Singapore Leads Next-Generation Mobility With Autonomous Ramp Services and Net-Zero Venues.
Singapore is cementing its role as an international airport and business tourism hub through autonomous airport operations, clean aviation fuel policies and an increased focus on meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE). Already successfully implemented drivers include the driverless Baggage tractors at Changi Airport, Marina Bay Sands’ internationally recognised sustainability credentials, and the government’s airport decarbonisation plans. These are aligned to a position of leadership within Asia-Pacific for business events and the needs of the MICE market, but some of the claims about other autonomous baggage systems across Terminals 2 and 3, a new high-speed rail cost-sharing package and the peak hour luggage surcharges all need clarifying. Singapore’s built infrastructure and transport policy plans tell a more accurate story.Changi Airport introduced its first fully driverless autonomous baggage tractors into live airside operations on 20 January 2026, marking an important development in its airport automation programme. The initial deployment involved two autonomous tractors transporting passenger baggage between Terminal 1 and Terminal 4’s baggage handling areas. The vehicles completed nearly a year of trials involving more than 5,000 test trips before entering operational service. Source: Travel and Tour World
